Lisa M. Wong, MD

Passionately dedicated to the healing arts of music and medicine

Pediatrician, Musician, Author; Dr. Wong has been a pediatrician at Milton Pediatric Associates for over 30 years and is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. A violinist and violist, she performs with the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, a Boston-based ensemble of health care providers that combines music, medicine and community service, and served as its president for over 20 years. In 2012, Dr. Wong published Scales to Scalpels: Doctors who practice the healing arts of Music and Medicine with writer Robert Viagas.

Lisa is a lifelong arts education advocate and believes deeply that the arts can enhance learning, engender empathy and promote healing. She teaches an undergraduate seminar at Harvard College on the role of music in education and health., and currently serves on the boards of the Conservatory Lab Charter School, New England Foundation for the Arts, and A Far Cry. She is on the advisory council of the Boston Public Schools Arts Initiative and co-founded and co-directs both the Arts and Humanities Initiative at Harvard Medical School and Boston Arts Consortium for Health (BACH).

Dr. Wong received an honorary degree in education from Wheelock College in 2016, the 2010 Pinnacle Award from the Mattapan Community Health Center and 2013 Champion for the Arts Award from the Arts and Business Council of Greater Boston. She has spoken to a wide range of musical and medical audiences in the USA and has also given presentations in Germany, Sweden, Lithuania and UK.
